Creeper Rebuild

Creeper Drive taken from a 129 to be installed on the 72 during Restoration.
The Drive shows very little wear, especially in the ‘low range’ areas.  The goal is to clean & inspect, then replace any suspect parts.

Inspection: The Shift Mechanism with all the gearing removed.  There is slight wear on the arms where they contact the collar.

Inspection: The Shift Collar and Shaft Assembly. There was only a slight amount of scuffing where the Shift Collar meets the Planetary.

Inspection: Shaft, Output Gear, Planetary, and Cage (this picture was taken as a reminder of how the Output Gear is installed.

Inspection: A small amount of scuffing on the Planetary Thrust Washer.

Assembly: Shaft with Bearing, Planetary, and Cage. The Bearing and Input Seal were replaced.

Assembly: Planetary and Cage mounted on Shaft.

Assembly: The Shaft Assembly from the Output Side. All split pins were replaced.  The old Breather, was chewed during disassembly. It was replaced.

The finished Creeper drive.  In the spring, it will be painted, then placed in storage until the 72 is fully restored.
